School of Dental Medicine announces new director of Advanced Education in General Dentistry program

Denver Jenkins, DDS, a Case Western Reserve faculty member and alumnus, will lead the program.

The School of Dental Medicine is pleased to announce that Denver Jenkins, DDS (WRC ’86; DEN ’90) has been appointed as the director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. Jenkins brings more than 30 years of clinical and educational experience to the role. 

“Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, a deep commitment to education, and a sustained impact on academic, clinical and service missions,” said Ilset Turkyilmaz, DMD, PhD, associate dean for digital innovation and chair of the department of comprehensive care. “His extensive experience in general dentistry and dental education provides a strong foundation for guiding the AEGD program and supporting residents’ transition to advanced clinical practice.

During his time at Case Western Reserve, Jenkins has served as course director and assistant course director for several courses and has played a central role in strengthening both didactic and clinical instruction. His leadership has contributed to improved clinical coordination, enhanced student preparedness and measurable improvements in key performance indicators.

“Dr. Jenkins is widely respected for his mentorship and collaborative leadership style, fostering a learning environment defined by respect, approachability and high expectations,” Turkyilmaz said. “His long-standing commitment to service, innovation and professional development further strengthens his qualifications for this role. We are confident that Dr. Jenkins’ experience, leadership and vision will continue to advance the excellence of the AEGD program.”

Jay Resnick, DDS, who served as AEGD interim program director, will continue to provide leadership to the program in the role of assistant program director.
