Staff Spotlight: Meet Paul Rockocy
What is your title?
Human Resources Specialist, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
How long have you worked at CWRU?
I've worked here for 4 1/2 years, including two years as an employment specialist in central Human Resources.
What does a typical day in your role look like?
A typical day in my role involves heavy communication and collaboration with School of Medicine departmental administrators, human resources administrators and principal investigators on various staff life-cycle workforce management functions. Each day is unique, and I have the opportunity to work with and meet a wide array of staff, doctors, researchers and leaders across multiple departments within the School of Medicine and the university as a whole.
What drew you to CWRU School of Medicine?
In my prior position as an employment specialist, I worked closely with the School of Medicine Human Resources team and built a great rapport with the team members. I was intrigued by the new processes and advancements that the department had implemented and how the School of Medicine approached and defined its talent acquisition strategies. When a position in the department became available, I was interested in the blend of autonomy the role offered and the mentorship within the School of Medicine.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
The people!
What are some hobbies you have outside of work?
I enjoy playing various sports like sand volleyball, pickleball and basketball with family and friends. Outside of rec sports, I also enjoy making homemade beer (attempting to make homemade beer) and visiting a new college football stadium each year.
