The Case Western Reserve University Class of 2029 officially kicked off their first full week on campus with tradition-filled events welcoming them into the CWRU community. 

On Monday (Aug. 18), first-year and transfer students gathered at Veale Convocation, Recreation and Athletic Center for the University Welcome, where they were greeted by university leaders, orientation staff and the Spartan mascot, Spartie. From there, they enjoyed the New Student BBQ, complete with music, games and time to connect with classmates.

Later in the evening, students headed to DiSanto Field for one of the week’s signature activities: the CWRU Tradition photo. Grouped together by school colors and spirited chants, the new students filled the field to create a vibrant aerial photo—an annual rite of passage marking their place in the CWRU community. 

Discover Week, which runs through Aug. 24, continues with a mix of academic prep, campus resource introductions, student organization fairs, community service projects and the always-popular Discover CLE excursions.
