'Pharmacy deserts' from closures could worsen disparities in Cleveland, experts say

Weatherhead III Professor of Management at Weatherhead School of Management, noted that pharmacy closures—including by Rite Aid and Walgreens—may worsen access to medication in Cuyahoga County's low-income areas. These “pharmacy deserts” leave residents without nearby pharmacies, especially in communities already burdened by social determinants of health and limited transportation options, he said.
