Money As If: Jonathan Ernest, assistant professor of economics at Weatherhead School of Management, noted that prices are unlikely to suddenly and broadly fall soon because supply chains may have adjusted to tariffs and shoppers often overlook price drops. Deflation usually occurs, he said, only during severe recessions, which may be worse than stable but high prices.
