You’ll find a lot of fun things to do around Case Western Reserve University’s campus, but there are also a lot of fun things to do off campus! But where should you start? Here are some ideas that range from a bus ride to a short walk.
Little Italy
A short walk away from the first-year residence halls is Cleveland’s Little Italy. Stop by with your friends to eat dinner at one of the many Italian restaurants, try a sweet treat from Corbo’s Bakery, or lock in at a cafe such as Blue Sky Brews or Algebra Tea House. You can also take the BlueLink or South Loop shuttle, or if you stay out a bit late you can take Safe Ride home.
Coventry
A little farther out is Coventry, a neighborhood with a collection of stores and plenty of restaurants. Make an afternoon out of it! Stop by Koko’s Bakery and grab boba tea, then browse stores such as Attenson's Antiques & Books or Mac's Backs-Books on Coventry. You can take the BlueLink or Cleveland Regional Transit Authority bus!
Downtown
Downtown Cleveland is a little farther out but definitely has the most to do. You can explore Public Square and enjoy one of the many events that take place, go to the famous Arcade Cleveland (America’s inaugural indoor shopping center), visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, catch a performance at Playhouse Square, or watch a Cleveland Cavaliers game at Rocket Arena. There’s also plenty of restaurants in the area. You can take the RTA bus or Red Line rail!
The easiest way to know where to go is to download the Spartan Ride app. It tracks all the shuttles and how you’ll get a safe ride. To ride both the RTA and the Red Line, use a map app on your phone and look up where you need to go to learn what bus you need to take and what stop to get off at. Be safe, and have fun!
