Review the updated loan process

Welcome to Case Western Reserve University! As you get ready for Fall 2026, here’s a quick overview of how federal and private loans can help cover your billed costs for the 2026–2027 year.

Student Financial Services will begin sending Fall billing notices around July 28, 2026, and families should remember that parents and guardians only receive these notices if the student adds them as an Authorized User. If you need help with that process, you can explore Authorized User setup.

To estimate how much you may need to borrow, add up your billable expenses: tuition, housing, meal plan, fees, and the matriculation fee. Subtract your grants, scholarships, and any outside resources. The remaining amount is a good starting point for planning your borrowing.

You can use federal loans, private loans, or a combination. Federal Loan lending steps and options can be reviewed on the CWRU Loan Application Process website, while private loan options can be explored through ELMSelect or your preferred lender. To keep everything on track, aim to complete your loan steps by the end of July 2026. If you need to adjust a loan you’ve already submitted, email the Office of External Loans from your
CWRU email (abc123@case.edu) at faloans@case.edu to request increases, decreases, or cancellations.

If your loan hasn’t disbursed by August 16, 2026, please reach out so we can assist. You can email faloans@case.edu, call 216.368.6153, or visit us in the Sears Library Building, Suite 240.
