If you are planning to join your student in August for the in-person orientation programming, Discover Week, we do have programs designed just for parents and families. Take a look at the overview below. More specific information will be provided later in the summer.
Sunday, August 17
This is a day to focus on helping your student move into their residence hall room. There will be opportunities to connect with some offices during the day, but we really want you to be able to spend time with your student, run any necessary errands and help them settle in.
Move-in will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern. Your student will be able to sign up for a move-in time through their Roadmap toward the end of July. Students will have programming starting at 7 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
Monday, August 18
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern: Information Fair and Educational Sessions
Parents and families will follow a schedule according to their student’s small group number*, allowing them to attend the Information Fair with their student and attend educational sessions while their student engages in activities with the orientation leaders.
*Students receive their small group number when they check-in for Discover Week in August.
Information Fair
If you have questions about campus services, come find the office at the fair, and talk one-on-one with a representative.
Educational Sessions
Attend sessions from various campus departments including Academic Support Resources for Students, Experiential Education, Safety and Student Conduct, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, University Health and Counseling, and many more. A detailed schedule and descriptions will be available later in July.
