Juris Doctor, Master of Business Administration

About the Program

Maximize your professional opportunities as you build the legal and business expertise necessary to specialize in legal, contractual and governmental aspects of management in the dual-degree Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor program at Case Western Reserve, the #51 university in the country.

By pursuing our dual-degree program, offered by the School of Law and Weatherhead School of Management, you can save time (and money) by earning both degrees in just four years compared to pursuing each degree separately.

And, you’ll graduate as a confident, more effective leader, establishing you as a distinctive candidate for future employers—whether you choose to pursue a career in business law or management, or open your own legal practice.

What to Expect

As a dual-degree student, you'll begin your first year in the School of Law, taking courses on topics such as contract law, civil procedure and law, torts, legislation and regulation. Once admitted into the MBA portion, you’ll spend a full year in a business cohort, where your learning experience will be rooted in fundamental management principles in business administration, accounting, marketing, finance and more.

For the remaining two years of your studies, you can simultaneously mix and match your business and legal coursework. And, you’ll have the opportunity to select a concentration consisting of four courses in one of the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Operations
  • Marketing
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Business Analytics
  • Healthcare Management
  • Design and Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Both programs were supportive and flexible with my other responsibilities, and I never felt that I had to sacrifice one activity for another. That says a lot about CWRU: They truly have their students in mind and want to help them achieve their goals."
