It's here! While it is still technically (and climatologically) summer, Fall 2025 is here. New student orientations are taking place, syllabuses are being reviewed and reformatted, and the Mandel School's buildings are abuzz with activities and excitement. Field Staff are humming along getting student placements assigned while faculty and staff are making sure that everything we do is digitally accessible for all of our students no matter which format they are enrolled in.
New to my portfolio of responsibilities is working with our international student group LINK (all are welcome to attend these events) and assisting the Mandel Council in their programming and planning for an exciting year. To align to state and federal mandates about inclusive and expansive programming, the Office for Campus Enrichment & Engagement was created in spring of 2025 and will be launching new programs and learning opportunities to continue preparing leaders for the complexities of our modern world.
You may have heard that last year the Mandel School was working on organizing a Sustained Dialogue about how we manage ethical conflicts in the classroom. I was able to take advantage of the University's relationship with and commitment to the Sustained Dialogue Institute to be trained as a moderator in this model over the summer. I am curious where this approach can take us as we recognize the breadth of ideologies present in our spaces and learn to meet each other where we are and practice “listening deeply enough to be changed by what you learn.” Best to all of us as we start another fall focused on becoming change agents and keep advocating for equity!
