SSRP awards provide critical financial support and a programmatic framework for undergraduate students pursuing faculty-mentored research or creative work during the summer.

Volunteer to Serve as an Application Reviewer
The Undergraduate Research Office is seeking faculty, staff, post-docs and graduate/PhD students to serve as application reviewers for the undergraduate Sponsored Summer Research Programs (SSRP). Reviewers evaluate proposals and supporting materials and make award recommendations for these competitive, merit-based awards.

As an application reviewer, you will play a direct role in supporting student scholarship and helping ensure that funding is awarded to high-quality, meaningful projects. This role also offers valuable professional development through hands-on experience in evaluating proposals, applying selection criteria, and strengthening skills in critical analysis, decision-making, and academic assessment.

Commitment & Expectations

  • Volunteers are asked to commit 3-4 hours over the course of 6 weeks (mid-February through late-March).
  • Reviews are completed asynchronously
  • Training, materials, and evaluation rubric will be provided
