Q: What are you up to this summer?
I have been busy running my small business Made by Milana.

For my business, I bake cookies for weddings, graduation parties, and even first birthday parties. My custom sugar cookies have included greyhounds, graduation caps, and even Baby JJ and CoComelon. I have also been busy at the sewing machine as I have had orders for handmade aprons, potholders, headbands, dog bandanas, and T-shirt blankets.

In addition to running Made by Milana I work at The Steel Plate Restaurant. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and boyfriend. I especially enjoy play dates with my two little friends Laina (4) and Londyn (8) who, along with my brother Jack, are my taste testers.

Q: When did you decide to start your own business?
I started Made by Milana in March 2021. I love to bake and sew and since I was taking my classes online during my first year at Case Western Reserve, I had access to my sewing machine and the ability to bake in my free time. I occasionally take a portion of my proceeds and donate them to local nonprofits that support education, health and animal welfare initiatives. My work in the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning at CWRU has made me aware of civic responsibility, and while I was home, I thought this would be a way to improve my community.
