14th Annual Provost's Leadership Retreat

The 14th Annual Provost Leadership Retreat was held on October 25, 2017, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Tinkham Veale University Center Ballroom. The theme of the retreat was "Learning for Leadership."

The half-day retreat features University Faculty Gender Data reported by Deputy Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Lynn Singer, and Faculty Diversity Data reported by Vice President Marilyn Mobley and Faculty Diversity Officer Donna Davis Reddix.

Theater Delta presented an interactive theater performance exploring how implicit bias (based on gender and race) influences the hiring of faculty in the campus community. Topics of discussion included why diversity, equity and inclusion are important and a priority; how implicit bias happens and how it impacts/influences ourselves, our colleagues, and the hiring process; and how to interrupt implicit/unconscious bias when it is having negative impact on the search bias.
