Undergraduate Funding Opportunities

Humanities@Work Academic Year Stipends

Maximum Stipend: $1,000
Stipends are available to undergraduate students in any of the departments affiliated with the Baker-Nord Center (Art History and Art, Classics, English, History, Modern Languages, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theater) who are participating in an unpaid internship during the academic year.

Eligibility:

Stipends are available to students pursuing a major in the arts and humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences, Case Western Reserve University.  Students should apply prior to beginning their internship.

Reporting:

Stipends will be paid in two payments to be determined based on the dates of the internship.  All awardees will be required to produce a final report (2 pages in length) at the completion of their internship.

Prepare application materials:

1. Name and address of the company or organization at which you have received an internship offer, along with a copy of the offer letter or email

2. A brief description of what you will be doing as an intern and how those duties relate to your humanities coursework and career goals

3. An explanation of the financial compensation that is available, whether as a stipend, salary or travel reimbursement, for this opportunity

4. Starting and ending dates for the internship, as well as the number of hours to be worked per week

5. Current Resume

6. An unofficial copy of your CWRU transcript

Humanities@Work Summer Stipends

Maximum Stipend: $3,000
Funded through a partnership with the Office of Post-Graduate Planning & Experiential Education and the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities, scholarships are available to undergraduate students in any of the departments affiliated with the Baker-Nord Center (Art History and Art, Classics, English, History, Modern Languages, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theater) who are participating in an unpaid internship.

Eligibility:

Stipends are available to students pursuing a major in the arts and humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences, Case Western Reserve University.

Reporting:

Stipends will be paid in two payments to be determined based on the dates of the internship.  All awardees will be required to produce a final report (2 pages in length) at the completion of their internship.

Undergraduate Research Award

Maximum Award: $500 (Special requests can be made exceeding that amount.)
Grants are available to undergraduate students in any of the departments affiliated with the Baker-Nord Center (Art History and Art, Classics, English, History, Modern Languages, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theater) to help defray expenses associated with a senior thesis or other research project not covered by departmental funding. Examples of eligible funding include, but are not limited to: travel to a collection; purchase of research materials; training in digital scholarship; server space; software; books or other materials.

Eligibility:

Funds are available to students pursuing a major in the arts and humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences, Case Western Reserve University.

Reporting:

Funds are available as reimbursement only.  All awardees will be required to produce a final report (2 pages in length) before funds will be released.

Undergraduate Humanities Prize

Prize: $500
This prize recognizes exceptional achievement in a capstone project or senior paper in conjunction with a humanities course.

Eligibility:

Prize is available to students in the following departments: Art History, Classics, English, History, Modern Languages, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, or Theater.
