As CWRU’s central Compliance Office, we act as the hub of compliance for the university.

We help coordinate CWRU’s overall compliance program by:

-Managing a standard and consistent way to create and maintain university-wide policies

-Providing annual training that all active faculty and staff members are expected to take

-Delivering compliance onboarding to new employees—monthly Welcome Coffees

-Giving opportunities for deeper-dive compliance training—the Ask Anything sessions

Our partners

Many university offices play key roles in compliance. Although these compliance-partner offices do not report directly to the central Compliance Office, we strive to stay in close communication to coordinate CWRU compliance processes as much as possible.

Specialized expertise and knowledge reside in the compliance-partner offices, such as the Office of Human Resources, the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Equity, the Office of Research and Technology Management, and many more. See the policies page and university-wide training page for specific information.

Our method

CWRU is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct and intends to operate in full compliance with all applicable laws and policies. The Compliance Program operates under the direction of the Executive Compliance Committee with the purpose of monitoring and coordinating the university’s many existing compliance efforts, assessing university-wide performance, and providing senior leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees with an independent, comprehensive view of the university’s compliance activities.
