An Institution Forged Through Partnerships

For nearly 200 years, partnerships have been integral to Case Western Reserve University's mission—driving collaboration, educational excellence and innovation. In 1887, faculty from the Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University came together to conduct the renowned Michelson-Morley experiment that laid crucial groundwork for Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. The 1967 federation of the two institutions formed Case Western Reserve University, where collaboration continues to fuel progress.

Today, the Corporate Engagement Center (CEC) carries on this tradition by acting as a one-stop shop for businesses to seamlessly engage with CWRU. The CEC aligns resources across the university to help industry partners access talent, upskilling, research, technology and philanthropy to solve their most pressing challenges.

Through highly customized engagements, the Corporate Engagement Center (CEC) serves as an extended workbench for industry partners to expand research and development capabilities.

Opportunities offered by the center include access to:

  • Specialized equipment through our core facilities,
  • Sears think[box], the largest open-access innovation center and makerspace in the U.S.,
  • Sponsored research projects,
  • Licensing and technology transfer,
  • Faculty expertise,
  • Collaborations on publicly-funded research,
  • Co-location and creating research centers, and
  • Exposure to startups.
