Teaching Information

Teaching Interests

My new elective course (under development) will introduce theoretical and practical principles for engineering polymer materials within the context electronics technology. Students will explore the electrical properties of polymers and their composites, including dielectric, conductive (electronic and ionic), and semiconductive behavior. Structure-property relationships will be emphasized, as well as principles for materials characterization, and performance metrics for example multi-material devices. Through lectures, problem sets, hands-on experiments, and a design project, students will learn how to tailor and process polymer composite materials for a range of electronics applications for sustainable energy, healthcare, and robotics. This course will be launched in the Fall of 2025.

Research Information

Research Interests

I am a scientist and engineer with research interests centered around functional polymers and composites. My work encompasses experimental materials synthesis, advanced characterization, and device prototyping complemented by theory and computation. The Root Laboratory for Functional Polymer Composites will integrate these approaches to investigate materials-based solutions to diverse problems in sustainable energy, healthcare, and robotics.

Research Projects

  • Damage-perceptive soft electronics based on autonomous alignment and self-healing in immiscible dynamic polymer composites.
  • Ultra-low loss dielectric composites for energy-efficient, high-speed electronics packaging.
  • Interplay between thermal and electrical conductivity in macromolecular composites of liquid metal microdroplets.
