Internship host organization:

MAGNET

Explain the details of your internship:

This summer, I am a MAGNET Research Fellow. In my role, I serve as a consultant of sorts where I am doing market research for thermoset composites in the HVAC/air handling industry. As part of my fellowship, I network and interview with several different people within the manufacturing industry ranging from sales representatives to product engineers and even VP/CEOs of different companies. Every Friday, we also get to visit a new manufacturing or business site in the area. It's been a great experience so far, especially being given the opportunity to learn more about the manufacturing and business that happens in Cleveland.

What has your experience been like so far?

My experience has been wonderful. Being a part of the MAGNET research fellows gave me the opportunity to explore both the engineering and business side of manufacturing. It has provided me the ability to look at various career paths for my future.

What’s your best piece of advice for students who might be looking for a similar opportunity?

Stepping out of your comfort zone and connecting with those in the field you want to work is the best thing a student can do. I always say "never say no for others". Sometimes all it takes is reaching out and talking to the right person to get your dream job. By having open conversations and networking with those who are well established in the work place, it can open up a whole world of opportunities!
