Integrated BS/MS

Interested in graduating with two degrees on an accelerated timeline? Case School of Engineering has a program for that.

In our Integrated Bachelor of Science (BS)/Master of Science (MS) program, highly motivated and qualified students can combine undergraduate- and graduate-level studies over a span of five years at Case Western Reserve University.

If you’re admitted to the program, you may take up to nine credits of graduate courses (400-level and above) in your senior year that will count toward both BS and MS requirements.

Note: Courses are only double-counted when taken after admission to the program and must be specified at time of application. Should you wish to count other courses taken prior to program admission, you must have earned them in excess of the BS requirements and gain permission from the dean of graduate studies and the dean of undergraduate studies.

Program Details

To apply to the BS/MS program, you must have acquired 75 semester hours of coursework and have not yet achieved senior status (completion of 90 semester hours). Normally, this means you will submit applications in the sixth semester of your BS program (typically the spring term of junior year).

Case School of Engineering sets the minimum grade point average for admission to the BS/MS program at 3.0. Individual departments may set a higher minimum GPA. Check with your faculty adviser or department chair about the availability of financial assistance (tuition waivers and/or stipend) for participation in this program, as well as the specific due date for your application.

Selected students are supported by research assistantships and competitive fellowships from the State of Ohio and from alumni donations to help them achieve their educational and research goals.

Additional information on dual-degree programs is available on the Division of Student Affairs’ website.
