Welcome to the Wirth Lab! We are part of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. Under the direction of Christopher Wirth, our research focuses on the interactions, dynamics, and assembly of particles suspended in bulk fluids and at interfaces. In particular, we seek to measure and exploit weak ~kT scale interactions between complex colloidal particles, including Janus particles, ellipsoids, and red blood cells to subsequently leverage this new knowledge for implementation in a broad selection of industrial, engineering, and scientific areas. In addition to doing fundamental research, we work with industrial partners on the development of innovative new products and tools.
We expect to have PhD positions open each fall. Learn how to apply to the PhD program.
