In the Research Institute for Children’s Health at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, we are pleased to offer student programs focused on children's medical conditions in several areas.
Summer Undergraduate Research Program
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a 10-week, hands-on opportunity during which students work directly with our investigators. The areas of research range greatly and include bench research in biochemistry, genetics and physiology.
Students accepted into the program are provided a stipend of $3,500 for the 10 weeks along with campus housing, if needed, and the opportunity to attend a biomedical science research conference for which travel, registration and housing expenses will be paid. The schedule is flexible to accommodate the varied university calendars for participating students. Accepted students work with their advisors to establish a 10-week schedule over the course of the summer session.
The program is research-based, and not clinical. Students may get some clinical exposure, but projects are laboratory-based.
Applicants will be asked to provide a copy of their transcript, as well as one letter of recommendation. Successful applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents and must be currently enrolled at a US based institute of higher education.
Applications for the Summer of 2025 are now closed.
Please note that the application deadline is the third Monday in February, with the next deadline February 16, 2026. The application window will open late in the fall of 2025, with applications becoming available in November.
