In the Research Institute for Children’s Health at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, we are pleased to offer student programs focused on children's medical conditions in several areas.

Summer Undergraduate Research Program

The Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a 10-week, hands-on opportunity during which students work directly with our investigators. The areas of research range greatly and include bench research in biochemistry, genetics and physiology.

Students accepted into the program are provided a stipend of $3,500 for the 10 weeks along with campus housing, if needed, and the opportunity to attend a biomedical science research conference for which travel, registration and housing expenses will be paid.

The program is research-based, and not clinical. Students may get some clinical exposure, but projects are laboratory-based.

Applicants will be asked to provide a copy of their transcript, as well as one letter of recommendation. A recommendation form is included with the application. Successful applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents and must be currently enrolled at a US based institute of higher education.

Apply to the Summer Undergraduate Research Program

Please note that the application deadline is the first Monday in March, with the next deadline March 4, 2024.  Applications may be sent by e-mail to ChildrensHealth@case.edu or through physical mail. We understand that transcript requests and recommendations are sometimes delayed. As long as the application is received by the deadline, transcripts and recommendations can follow shortly thereafter. Please contact us with any questions.
