  • White Coat Ceremony 
    • Each August, GEO hosts The Seeds of Discovery White Coat ceremony celebrating the incoming PhD students into the Biomedical Sciences programs.
  • GOODTIME III Dinner Cruise
    • Co-sponsored by the Biomedical Graduate Sciences Organization (BGSO) and the GEO, current and new students gather each August on Lake Erie to meet new friends, catch up with old friends and welcome the start of the new school year.  
  • Graduate Education Orientation
    • Following the Graduate Studies Orientation, our office hosts this informational session for all new SOM doctoral and masters students, sharing information, resources and introducing them to individuals specific to their time here in the SOM.
  • Graduate Student Appreciation Week 
    • To show our appreciation for our graduate students here at the SOM, we host an appreciation event (in addition to events hosted by the University) for all of our SOM graduate students the first week of April during the national Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GSAW).
  • Biomedical Graduate Student Symposium
    • Dating back to its inception in 1977, the Biomedical Graduate Student Symposium (BGSS) is an annual opportunity to come together as a community and showcase graduate student research here at the SOM. This year our office is collaborating with Medical Education to showcase all student research performed at the SOM. *Plans are underway for this symposium to be held this coming December 2023.
