A Message from Our Co-Directors
Welcome to the Center for Mitochondrial Research and Therapeutics (CMRT) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. As co-directors, we are excited to lead a dynamic, multidisciplinary team committed to unraveling the complexities of mitochondrial biology and its profound impact on human health. Mitochondria are at the heart of cellular function, and dysfunction in these organelles is linked to numerous diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.
At CMRT, we believe in the power of collaboration. Our center brings together top researchers, clinicians, and scientists across diverse fields to tackle the most challenging questions in mitochondrial science. Through cutting-edge research and advanced technologies, we are not only expanding our understanding of mitochondrial function but also driving the development of novel, mitochondria-targeted therapies with the potential to transform patient care.
We are dedicated to fostering a vibrant community of innovation and discovery. Our research spans basic science to clinical translation, supported by strong partnerships across departments, institutions, and industry. Through education and mentorship, we are also committed to training the next generation of scientists who will continue to push the boundaries of mitochondrial research.
