Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Philips Healthcare join forces in creating the Global Advanced Imaging Innovation Center. This brings together users, developers, and manufacturers of medical imaging technology. The center was funded by a major grant from the Ohio Department of Development.

Dr. Ros, UH Chair of Radiology; Mr. Thomas Neufelder head of R&D/Engineering CT (at the time), Philips Healthcare; Dr. Fred Rothstein, UHCMC President; and Mark Chance, CWRU School of Medicine vice-chair for research are together at the opening ribbon-cutting ceremony.
