Pack a picnic, grab a frisbee and head to Edgewater Beach for a day of sun and lake views—no entry fee required. With walking and biking paths, volleyball courts and plenty of green space, it’s a perfect escape that feels far from the city but is just minutes away.
How to get there without a car: Take the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Red Line westbound to the West 65th–Lorain Station, then walk about 30 minutes north to the beach.
2. Cleveland Museum of Art
One of the country’s most renowned art museums, the Cleveland Museum of Art offers free admission to its permanent collection year-round. Wander through galleries spanning centuries and continents, from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces.
How to get there without a car: Walk from campus or take the HealthLine bus along Euclid Avenue to University Circle.
3. Lake View Cemetery
This isn’t your typical stroll. Lake View Cemetery doubles as a historic landmark and a serene green space. Visit the ornate Wade Memorial Chapel, take in the view from the Garfield Monument and enjoy the peaceful walking paths—all for free.

4. West Side Market
Cleveland’s iconic indoor market is a feast for the senses. While browsing West Side Market is free, bring a few dollars to sample fresh-baked pastries, local produce or international snacks from its more than 100 vendors.

5. RTA Day Pass Adventures
For just $5, you can ride Greater Cleveland’s RTA buses and trains all day. Hop from neighborhood to neighborhood—try Tremont for its coffee shops, Ohio City for its breweries (if you’re over 21), and University Circle for museums and gardens—all without worrying about parking.

6. Cleveland Cultural Gardens
Located in Rockefeller Park, the Cleveland Cultural Gardens showcase more than 30 beautifully landscaped areas representing different countries and cultures.
