Beth Trecasa, senior executive editor of The International Journal of Ethical Leadership and advisor of the Global Ethical Leaders Society, has been appointed interim director of the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve University.
A longtime leader on campus and within the Inamori Center, Trecasa brings extensive knowledge of the center's mission, programs and partnerships. She succeeds Eileen Anderson, EdD, who serves as the Anne Templeton Zimmerman MD Professor in Bioethics and director of education for the university’s educational programs in bioethics and medical humanities.
The university will launch a national search for a permanent director this fall.
"Beth's longstanding commitment to the Inamori Center and her deep understanding of its mission make her an outstanding choice to lead the center during this transition," said Daniel Lacks, vice provost for interdisciplinary and international initiatives, who oversees the center. "She has been instrumental in advancing the center's work, and I am confident she will continue to strengthen its impact on our campus and beyond."
In her interim role, Trecasa will lead the center's efforts to explore ethical issues from interdisciplinary and global perspectives, in both practice and theory.
In the coming year, the Inamori Center will focus on recognizing the 2026 Inamori Ethics Prize recipient, Frank Mugisha, a global LGBTQIA+ advocate and Ugandan human rights leader. The center also will collaborate with local and global partners to prepare students to think critically about ethical issues, engage across differing perspectives and become ethical leaders and responsible global citizens.
