Celebrate 19 Years of Research Collaboration During CTSC Translational Science Week
This September, the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) will mark its 19th birthday with CTSC Translational Science Week, a weeklong celebration of the partnerships and programs that advance translational science across Northern Ohio. Taking place Sept. 14–18, the week will highlight research impact across partner institutions, recognize champions who support and advance research in meaningful ways and invite researchers to connect with CTSC resources.
The CTSC of Northern Ohio was originally awarded by the National Institutes of Health on Sept. 17, 2007. Today, it serves as a collaborative among Case Western Reserve University and its affiliated hospital systems: Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, University Hospitals, Veterans Affairs Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, Northeast Ohio Medical University and University of Toledo.
Throughout the week, CTSC partner sites will spotlight champions whose work reflects the breadth and impact of translational science.

A key highlight of the week will be the CTSC Birthday Celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Biomedical Research Building (BRB) Lobby at Case Western Reserve University. With resource tables featuring CTSC services and real examples of how researchers have used those services to advance their work, Translational Science Awards, a distinguished speaker, opportunities to connect with colleagues across partner sites, and complimentary lunch for registered attendees, the event is designed to be both useful and accessible for researchers and research staff.
Wednesday, Sept. 16 | BRB Lobby
- 10 a.m. to noon | Resource Tables featuring CTSC modules, services, and real examples of how researchers have used CTSC services to advance their work
- Noon to 12:30 p.m. | Translational Science Awards recognizing outstanding contributions, collaboration, and impact across the CTSC community
- 12:30 p.m to 2 p.m. | Distinguished Speaker David Conroy, PhD, University of Michigan, complimentary lunch provided for registered attendees
Win a Day with the UH Mobile Research Unit
Adding to the excitement of Translational Science Week, the CTSC will launch a special raffle beginning Monday, Sept. 14, giving researchers an opportunity to win access to University Hospitals’ Mobile Research Unit (MRU). The grand-prize winner will receive a full day of access and use of the MRU, while a runner-up will receive a half day.
Launched by the University Hospitals Clinical Research Center, the 39-foot MRU brings a fully equipped clinic and laboratory directly into communities, helping expand opportunities to participate in clinical research studies and trials. The mobile unit can support research outreach in rural areas, as well as reach people who may have difficulty traveling to traditional research sites. MRU raffle details and instructions for entering will be announced at the start of Translational Science Week.
