The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) of Northern Ohio proudly participated in two community health events this fall: the first inaugural University Hospitals Cutler Men’s Full Life Summit on Sept. 21, at the Huntington Convention Center, and the Caring for the Caregiver Expo on Nov. 8, at the Landerhaven Event Center. Both events brought together patients, caregivers, families, and community members for education, resources, and proactive wellness.

At both the UH Cutler Men’s Full Life Summit and the Caring for the Caregiver Expo, the CTSC research participant recruitment team connected with attendees to share information about opportunities to participate in innovative health research. Engaging community members as research volunteers helps advance medical discovery and enhances the quality of care for people across Northeast Ohio.

In addition to clinical research participation outreach, the CTSC offered free onsite health screenings at both events. Screenings included:

  • A1c (Hemoglobin A1c): Used to assess blood sugar control over the past three months.
  • Cholesterol: Measurement of total, LDL, and HDL cholesterol levels to help evaluate cardiovascular risk.
  • Glucose: Blood sugar screening to detect risk for diabetes and metabolic conditions.
  • Blood Pressure: Monitoring to identify hypertension and cardiovascular health concerns.

These screenings were performed by trained health professionals, who provided participants with immediate results and guidance for ongoing health management.

The Caring for the Caregiver Expo focused on supporting those who care for loved ones by providing tools, resources, and a supportive environment. CTSC’s involvement underscores its commitment to improving the health and well-being of caregivers and their families.
