Conversations at Judson Park: “Medieval Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art”

The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program’s next Conversations at Judson Park event will be held Monday, Nov. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. at Judson Park (2181 Ambleside Dr.). Elina Gertsman, professor in the Department of Art History and Art, will present “Medieval Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art.” Her lecture will explore the highlights of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s world-renowned collection of medieval art. Attendees will learn about:

• The Jonah marbles;
• The Byzantine textile icon;
• The objects that form part of the Guelph Treasure;
• Romanesque and Gothic sculptures;
• Late medieval paintings and manuscripts; and
• The famous fountain automaton.

About the series

Conversations at Judson Park is a monthly luncheon program open to the public through December. During the series, local university faculty and laypeople will lead discussions on a variety of academic and contemporary issues, giving participants an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and ask questions of topic experts. The final installment of the series will be “Perceptions of Cleveland” by Nina Gibans, a cultural consultant, Monday, Dec. 10. Each lecture in the series costs $25 for Siegal Lifelong Learning members and $30 for nonmembers. Judson residents also pay the member cost through Judson Park. The cost includes lunch.
