CWRU College of Arts and Sciences names new associate dean of strategic initiatives

Case Western Reserve University College of Arts and Sciences has named Amy Arbogast as its new associate dean for strategic initiatives, finance and administration, effective Oct. 1.

With a career spanning higher education, nonprofit leadership and financial management, Arbogast brings both analytical insight and a collaborative spirit to the college’s leadership team.

“Amy’s combination of experience and forward-thinking leadership will be invaluable as we continue to build for the university’s bicentennial and beyond,” said David Gerdes, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “Her understanding of how strategic planning and sound financial stewardship can empower academic excellence makes her a tremendous addition to the college.”

Arbogast joins Case Western Reserve from Thiel College, an independent liberal arts institution in Greenville, Pennsylvania, where she served as vice president for finance and administration for four years. As a member of the President’s Cabinet and the college’s chief financial and operations officer, she oversaw business and accounting services, human resources, facilities and information technology.

Originally from Mercer, Pennsylvania, Arbogast has called Greater Cleveland home for more than two decades. Before her time at Thiel, she held senior financial roles at Vocational Guidance Services and Magnificat High School, two Cleveland-area nonprofits committed to community impact and education.

She earned her bachelor’s degree and MBA from Kent State University, completed an Executive Scholar Certificate in Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and is a Leadership Cleveland alumna.

In her new role, Arbogast oversees the college’s strategic and financial planning, benchmarking, forecasting and reporting, as well as operations related to facilities and space management.

“Case Western Reserve has such a remarkable energy, rooted in innovation, collaboration and purpose,” Arbogast said. “I’m excited to partner with colleagues across the college to strengthen that foundation and ensure we’re positioned for long-term success.”
