Shreveport massacre shocked Americans. Why do parents kill their kids?
USA Today: Susan Hatters-Friedman, the Phillip J. Resnick Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at the School of Medicine and adjunct professor at the School of Law, said filicide shocks because "our homes should be places of safety." She identified four main motives to such crimes: fatal maltreatment, unwanted children, partner revenge and acute psychosis involving delusions that death spares the child from something worse.
