Discover ways to prevent type 2 diabetes

Are you at risk for type 2 diabetes? 

Case Western Reserve University’s Department of Nutrition will host virtual information sessions for the Prevent Type 2 (Prevent T2) Lifestyle Change Program. In addition to incentives, participants of this program have the opportunity to hear from a trained lifestyle coach and fellow members, who will offer encouragement and strategies to make lifelong healthy changes. 

Program topics discussed include food choices, physical activity, dealing with stress and coping with challenges. Participants will also receive a digit scale at the start of the program. 

Past participants of this program, who noted success of losing weight and increasing physical activity and confidence to maintain a new, healthy lifestyle, include:

  • Ivette Noriega, PhD, senior research associate at Begun Center for Violence Prevention; 
  • Lorrie Rice, assistant director of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee; and
  • Britney Nwoko, first-year cognitive science student at the College of Arts and Sciences. 

Following an initial information session will be held noon Thursday, Jan. 8, weekly virtual sessions will begin Thursday, Jan. 15, from noon to 1 p.m.
