Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Bermudez, DMD, MD, FACS (DEN ’15, MED ’18), as assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and residency program director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program, effective Aug. 1.
His return to Case Western Reserve University reflects a full‑circle commitment to academic excellence, clinical leadership and the education of future oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Bermudez currently serves as a pediatric craniomaxillofacial surgeon at Henry Ford St. John Children’s Hospital and as oral and maxillofacial surgeon and residency program director at Henry Ford Warren Hospital. He also serves as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.
Bermudez is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds a Certificate of Advanced Qualification in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, awarded by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
His professional affiliations include the:

- Chalmer J. Lyons Academy,
- American Cleft Palate–Craniofacial Association, and
- American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons.
Bermudez was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2024.
