Xiong (Bill) Yu, the Opal J. and Richard A. Vanderhoof Professor and chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was named 2023 Civil Engineer of the Year by the Cleveland section of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Yu was recognized for his “significant contributions to the civil engineering profession with his efforts to achieve excellence in education, research, service, and leadership.”
As a result, Yu was invited to give a lecture titled “Intelligent Infrastructure: Empowering Civil Engineers to Build Resilient and Sustainable Communities” at an award ceremony last month.
