Medicine's Ali Dehghani on the shingles vaccine and vascular benefits
Shingles vaccination linked to vascular benefits with breakthrough infections and in people with HIV
Medscape: Ali Dehghani, an internal medicine physician at the School of Medicine, found that shingles in people with HIV is associated with triple the risk for major cardiovascular events. “Shingles is really more than just a rash. It seems to perturb the body in a way that puts the heart and the brain at serious risk, and it does that probably via inflammation that has been revealed in prior studies,” said Dehghani.
