Why finding a colon polyp could save your life

Health Radar (pg. 7): Bianca Islam, gastroenterology specialist in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, explained the importance of early screening for colon cancer. "Colon polyps are small growths that form on the inner lining of the colon or rectum. They're common, especiallly as we age, and most won't cause problems. But some polyps can slowly develop into colorectal cancer over time. That's why finding them early through screening can be lifesaving," said Islam.
