Medicine’s Ian J. Neeland named CTSC of Northern Ohio’s co-lead of pilot and research program proposals

The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) of Northern Ohio recently announced Ian J. Neeland—associate professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University—as co-lead for the pilot program and research program proposals. 

A nationally recognized cardiologist and clinical investigator, Neeland was recognized for his work, which focuses on obesity, diabetes and the prevention of cardiovascular disease. His research, funded by the National Institutes of Health and industry partners, has resulted in more than 180 scholarly publications, multiple book chapters and invited presentations across the globe. 

Neeland also was recognized for his involvement in various leadership roles, including: 

  • Director of the University Hospitals Center for Cardiovascular Prevention and Translational Science Unit;
  • Co-director of the Center for Integrated and Novel Approaches in Vascular-Metabolic Disease program;
  • Fellow of American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology;
  • Immediate past chair of the AHA Obesity Committee; and 
  • Member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Health. 

In his new role with the CTSC, Neeland looks forward to mentoring early-stage investigators and helping faculty across the collaborative leverage pilot resources to propel their research forward.
