Breakthrough in fight against nerve disease that's rising in under 50s, hope for new treatment
The Daily Mail: Jesse Zhan and Kevin Allan, researchers at the School of Medicine, shared highlights of their research, which found the protein SOX6 acts as a “brake” preventing premature myelin development. Allan said this may explain why cells fail to repair myelin in multiple sclerosis (MS). Zhan added that MS cells may be “stalled,” and releasing the brake could restore function.
