The Marshall Project: Michael Baldonieri, assistant professor of reproductive biology at the School of Medicine, said that without mandatory reporting of pregnancy outcomes in jails, “we’re not going to find problems we’re not looking" to correct. “Historically, incarcerated individuals have suffered at the hands of medical inequity, and making these outcome data available for analysis is the first step towards taking concrete actions to improve pregnancy outcomes,” Baldonieri said.
