U.S. News & World Report: Neha Vyas, assistant clinical professor at the School of Medicine, said most insect-bite reactions are localized and resolve within days. She recommended washing the area, applying ice and using OTC creams or antihistamines for itching. Vyas also warned that severe reactions, including “skeeter syndrome,” can cause significant swelling, inflammation, fever or pain and warrant medical attention.
