Source of breathing problems identified for people with spinal cord injuries

U.S. News & World Report: Polyxeni Philippidou, associate professor at the School of Medicine, said her team identified specific spinal cord interneurons that help the body adjust breathing to high carbon dioxide levels. Blocking them could help to restore respiration in people with spinal cord injuries or neurodegenerative diseases, she said.
