Medicine's Weichuan Dong discovers epilepsy-prone regions in the south
First-of-its-kind map reveals states with most epilepsy cases
Newsweek: Weichuan Dong, assistant professor at the School of Medicine, discussed his team's new research that identified an “epilepsy belt” in parts of the South, where older adults face significantly higher rates of epilepsy. Dong said environmental, social and health factors—such as poor sleep, extreme heat and chronic disease—combine to drive the region’s elevated risk.
