Participate in a Summer Mushroom Identification series at the University Farm

Join the Case Western Reserve University Farm for a guided Summer Mushroom Identification series, where you can explore the fascinating fungi of northeast Ohio—from Chanterelle and Chicken of the Woods to Dead Man’s Fingers and oyster mushrooms.

During these walks, you’ll learn how to safely identify local wild mushrooms, understand their ecological roles and distinguish edible species from toxic lookalikes. Led by experienced foragers, this hands-on experience is open to beginners and seasoned nature enthusiasts.

Whether you’re a foodie, a hiker or just curious about fungi, you will gain valuable skills for foraging with confidence.

This event will take place over three consecutive Saturdays on July 26, Aug. 2, and Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. The series has a $25 registration fee. Sign up through CampusGroups.

Participants are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and a notebook.
