Kick off Preservation Week at Kelvin Smith Library’s Preservation Parlor at noon on Monday, April 23, with tips and tricks to preserving photographs, books, letters, newspapers and family artifacts. See a live demonstration of the various techniques used to treat and preserve damaged artifacts.
Following the presentation, individuals can get a personal consultation on how best to preserve one item they bring along with them (book, letter, newspaper, or photograph).
Then, on Wednesday, April 25, come see the pop-up preservation workshop near the main Kelvin Smith Library entrance any time between 1 and 5 p.m. Here, visitors can get a rare glimpse into the preservation officer’s daily responsibilities at the library. Come with questions and learn more about what the library is doing to ensure that library materials will be used now and in the future. Meet the library's preservation officer in a Facebook video.
