Suchitra Nelson appointed to chair of community dentistry at CWRU School of Dental Medicine
Earlier this month, Suchitra Nelson, PhD, professor and associate dean for clinical and translational research, was appointed chair of community dentistry at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.
Nelson has served as interim chair since January 1, 2019, and during that time has demonstrated exceptional leadership, administrative effectiveness and a strong commitment to the mission of Community Dentistry. In her role, she took on key challenges to strengthen the department, including supporting faculty development, fostering student success, and contributing meaningfully to accreditation efforts.
“She has worked collaboratively with fellow department chairs to enhance communication and integration across disciplines within the school, helping to advance a cohesive and interdisciplinary academic environment,” said interim Dean Dale Baur. “With her experience and vision, Dr. Nelson is well positioned to address current priorities while continuing to advance the department’s academic, clinical, community, and research‑focused mission.”
