Rishabh Kundu, a PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Case School of Engineering, and members of Team Pick-a-Tech were selected as finalists of the Universities for Goal 13: A Student Competition for Climate Solutions.

This competition is sponsored by Siemens Energy in collaboration with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

Led by Kundu, Team Pick-a-Tech’s team includes:

  • Sijia Cheng, a fourth-year materials science and engineering student and a ThinkEnergy fellow;
  • Keshav Shah, a fourth-year finance student with minors in creative writing, applied data science and environmental engineering; and
  • Shawn Liang, a fourth-year computer science student.

Standing out among a highly competitive international field, Team Pick-a-Tech is the only team from the United States to advance to this final round, having successfully navigated multiple rounds of rigorous screening to get here.

Their innovative idea took root through the ThinkEnergy fellowship, an initiative of Great Lakes Energy Institute at Case Western Reserve University, and has since grown into a bold, real-world solution ready to compete on the global stage.
