“Volunteerism and Philanthropy: Cultivating Gifts of Time and Money”

Attend a free “lunch-and-learn” panel discussion titled “Volunteerism and Philanthropy: Cultivating Gifts of Time and Money” Thursday, April 27, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Mandel Community Studies Center. The event will explore volunteer engagement with leaders from three major Cleveland volunteer management organizations:

• Joy Banish, executive director of Greater Cleveland Volunteers;
• Brian Broadbent, president and CEO of Business Volunteers Unlimited; and
• Jeff Griffiths, executive director of HandsOn Northeast Ohio.

Rob Fischer, co-director of the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development, will moderate the discussion. The panel will discuss how the concept of philanthropy is inclusive of the giving of volunteer time as well as monetary resources—and how they often go hand in hand. This is the third and final event in the 2017 Strategies in Social Investment spring speaker series at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, which is presented by the Master of Nonprofit Organizations program with support from the Gail and Elliott Schlang Philanthropic Fund (a donor-advised fund of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland).
