Reflect
In our first decade, we achieved and learned so much with the support of our many funders and partners
Listen to our special Bending the Arc podcast episode where we reflect on our 10-year journey as a center
We are so proud of the enduring relevance of the essays in our "What Works to Promote Inclusive, Equitable Mixed-Income Communities" volume
Our Mixed-Income Strategic Alliance generated numerous resources for the field, including our report on Promising Practices to promote inclusive social dynamics
We are profoundly grateful to our many funders, clients, partners and key collaborators who shaped our first decade
Recommit
In our next decade, we will sustain our commitment to an action-oriented approach to impact research
We affirm our ongoing quest to promote urban equity and inclusion through impact research that achieves more effective and durable social change outcomes.
Some recent examples include:
- Our study of racial bias in inclusionary housing commissioned by the City of Cambridge was commended by the mayor, city council members and the community development department
- Our five-year partnership with the Washington Housing Conservancy (WHC) has helped incorporate a social impact strategy alongside the innovative WHC real estate model
- Our role helping coordinate the Woodhill-Buckeye federal Choice Neighborhoods Initiative has been a chance to apply 20 years of mixed-income learning in our hometown
- "In partnership with MIT, we documented innovative city approaches to racial justice in housing
Reimagine
Listen to our special Bending the Arc podcast episode where we share our emerging new directions as a center
Our next phase will include an even greater emphasis on racial justice, as seen in Mark Joseph’s Everyday Antiracism blog.
We will be working even more closely to center grassroot leaders, as heard in our recent podcast series on grassroots leadership.
Our second decade will also bring:
- New partnerships with artists, environmental activists, youth leaders and others
- A focus on interdependence and intergenerational approaches
- Application of an “emergent strategy” approach and the exponential power of fractals, where “small is all”
- The role of truth, healing and “rest as resistance”
Above all, we will be seeking to amplify the work
