Karmen Garrett, MA

Assistant Dean of Students
Division of Student Affairs

Hi there! My name is Karmen Garrett (she/her/hers), and I am an Assistant Dean of Students at Case Western Reserve University.

In my role, I work closely with students to offer support, guidance, and connection to campus resources during both challenging moments and times of growth. I care deeply about student advocacy and strive to approach my work with empathy, respect, and a genuine appreciation for each student’s lived experience. I believe strongly in partnering with students to find solutions that honor their needs, strengths, and goals.

I am especially passionate about supporting students through transitions and periods of adversity, and about helping them feel seen, heard, and supported. If you ever need assistance, my hope is that we can work together to identify the next steps and resources that feel right for you.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. My spouse, our twin sons, and our cat, Ferden, keep life full and meaningful. Music is an important part of my life, particularly classical music and 90s grunge and alternative, and I am always happy to connect over a favorite song or artist. I am also a longtime sci-fi fan and love getting lost in imaginative worlds that ask big questions.

If you ever need support or simply want to connect, I look forward to working with you.
