The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
Major life activities include, but are not limited to, breathing, seeing, walking, eating, speaking, learning, hearing, concentrating, and thinking. They also include the operation of major bodily functions, such as functions of the immune system, neurological system, respiratory system, and other body systems.
This definition is intended to be broad and inclusive, recognizing the wide range of ways individuals may experience disability.
